sup

Today I bought my books.  I think that is a step in the right direction considering that classes have been in session for a week and a half now but I don't think I'm behind so whatever.  I found out in my Anatomy lab today that I will be dealing with cadavers in about three weeks EEEEKKKKKK but I know with a little support from each one of you I'll be able to do it.  I'm sorry this one is so boring I was literally a dead weight on society today.  All I did was eat and I'm still hungry.. go figure.  I hope you all had a much more eventful Tuesday but on the bright side it's hump day tomorrow.  Gotta go pretend to be productive, laterrr

Level 13

Apparently Level 13 is a little too high for a StairMaster.. you guessed it.. I fell of the StairMaster today at the gym.  It was a pretty terrifying experience.  I mean it started out okay I was just trekking along on this machine and thought to myself, this is way too easy (first mistake), so I started increasing the level (second mistake). When I got to 13 I decided to stop and see what happened (third mistake) and after about 30 seconds my quads really started to burn.  It was then that I decided to attempt to turn it down (fourth mistake) but that turned out to be impossible.  I could not focus on anything except the stairs because they were coming so fast and after several failed attempts at slapping the screen to stop it I fell off.  My earphones were ripped out of my ears and I almost threw my wallet over the railing but I'm alive so we're all good.  For the record, those machines are much higher than they look or I'm just really short, most likely a combination of the two.  I think we all learned a valuable lesson here.. I'm bad a stairs and don't take on more than you can handle.  Hope your Monday was spectacular.

Sunday

Its almost Monday again.. eww but tomorrow is the first day of school for my buds Courtney and Corby so good luck you guys and I hope you find all your classes okay! This was the first weekend of rush for my sister Olivia at Iowa.  When I went through it it was not necessarily my favorite experience ever but it worked out in the end.  I hope Shakara is reading this right now because on behalf of everyone at 1102 S. Lincoln I just want to say we are still waiting for you to come over.  Last night was the first time I ever took SafeRides home and it was awesome.. people should start taking more advantage of that system.  My apologies for the poor grammar I'm gonna have to have Moira the English major start editing these.   Sorry this one was so random.. too much studying going on today.  So my last words *credit goes to Emily North*... love life, live the dream.

Oh What a Night

Today, August 28, is a very special day because it just so happens to be a popular day for birthdays! My brother Nolan is now 16 (still no license - he still needs some practice) and both Heather Brubaker and Therese Dunne turn 19 (yay for being bar legal now!) If you happen to see any one of these three special people give them a wave and a pat on the back and tell them how happy you are that they were born.  Last night was absolutely insane for so many reasons but I'm gonna have to say the highlight was going to Mariannes (unsure about the spelling but that is completely irrelevant) at 3 am, the bodyguards I had did a spectacular job.  Not only was it delicious but totally worth the long walk (2nd location in Urbana now).  I definitely suggest making a trip over there some time this year for those of you who have yet to try it.  I think this one is gonna be short and sweet.  Have a great Saturday night and behave tonight  :)

TGIF

Its the weekend!! Well I think we all acted as though last night kicked off the weekend but now its legit so whatever.  I want to give a quick thanks to mah boyz Max, Ben, Ken, and Peiss for always letting me sleep on the couch.. your kindness will not go unrecognized.  I also want to formally apologize to my real roomie Katherine Cunningham because my side of the room is a disaster which is very out of character for me.. because if you don't already know I'm somewhat of a neat freak.  I'm working on it and thats what the weekend is for anyways.  If I have any advice for you for tonight it would be to listen to the song Dancing in the Moonlight by Toploader and dance like no one is watching, you will instantly be in a good mood.   That is my absolutely favorite song in the entire world but you should all get the heads up eventually I'm going to post a great playlist just documenting some popular songs of fall 2010 and then all my favorites.  I love music so feel free to introduce some new music into my life, it would be much appreciated.  I am also working on uploading some pictures just to spruce things up a bit and I will post any you send into me.  Anyways I hope you all have an excellent Friday night and if you have any interesting stories you would like me to share with everyone please tell me! Be safe and stay classy my friends!

Good Morning.. a little late

This may come as a shock to some but nothing consequential has happened to me in the past 15 or so hours.  But today does mark the 2 week anniversary of me going skydiving.  I'm sure you are all sick of hearing how I was shaking uncontrollably on the way up or how I couldn't pull the parachute by myself but it was an exhilarating experience and I recommend it to all of you.  Upon landing and kissing the ground I realized just how thankful I was to be alive but I also realized that, while I am completely satisfied with what I have accomplished in my short 19.5 years on this planet, I want to do so many more things before I die.  It was then that I decided to write down my bucket list.  So far some of my goals are to tip a cow, be an extra in a movie, backpack in Europe.. its a work in progress and suggestions are always welcome.  Feel free to contact me via phone or email, I am usually prompt with both.  If I were to give you any advice for the day it would be to meet someone new.  Don't be afraid to put yourself out there!  As we begin a new school year it is important to realize that everyone could use some love and who knows you might make a great new friend.  I hope you all had a great morning and don't forget to smile, its sunny today!

Hey Friends!

I am absolutely delighted to be sharing my first blogging experience with all of you!  I would like to begin with a quick intro.  In case you don't know (which I seriously hope you do because otherwise this is creepy) my name is Maris.  Typically when I introduce myself to others I say, "Hi, my name is Maris.  It's like Paris with an M."  Apparently it's a hard name to grasp.. so, if for whatever reason you would like to call me Paris its fine by me but you should know I prefer Maris.  Enough about my name.  I am a sophomore at the University of Illinois majoring in Kinesiology.. this will be important to remember for all the grammatical errors that will inevitably happen due to the fact that I'm not very good at English.  When I grow up I want to be an athletic trainer, I have run into some trouble with this dream of mine but I'll save that for another day.  Some things you should all know about me, some of my favorite things include ribs, Peanut M&M's, the color purple, hippos and obviously my friends and family.  This summer I worked as a nanny for two wonderful children and in some posts to come I'll elaborate on our adventures.  I don't want this to get too long so the reason I decided to do this was due to some recent inspiration from my dear friend Lizzy Braun and countless others and I just wanted to say thanks.  Hope you're having a great day and stay classy my friends.
